- While updating engines and introducing the new electric iX3, BMW is already preparing the renewal of its flagship SUV, the X3. With slight aesthetic touches and more technology, we anticipate what it will be like.
The third generation of the always successful BMW X3, which ended last year with 300,000 units already sold worldwide, already sees an update on the horizon. Although the SUV has not stopped in these last two years to present mechanical novelties and new adjustments, the total renovation will arrive already in 2021.
It will be then when the BMW X3 already has on the market the new iX3 electric variant, scheduled for the end of this year, with 286 hp and a 100% electric range of over 440 kilometers. And also a whole range of recently renewed engines, which will include from micro-hybrid versions to new plug-in hybrids.
X3 2021: FIRST RECREATIONS
For now, international media such as have already hunted the first test units of the new BMW X3 2021 rolling on the road. As can be seen despite the camouflage, the new midsize SUV will offer a slightly revised look, with new cleaner-looking bumpers, modified air intakes, an oversized grille, and new rear optics.
From allcarphotos.net, on the other hand, we can already offer you the first recreations of what the new BMW X3 2021 will be like, signed as always by our illustrator specialist Schulte. New body colors and wheels will complete the revision of the model in principle.
And inside, do not expect significant changes in a 2021 BMW X3 will maintain its platform and therefore generous interior space. It will improve its equipment with new voice commands, an advanced assistant that allows you to autonomously travel the last 50 meters, revised security systems or an updated information and entertainment system, with new software available and, perhaps, a slightly screen larger.
BMW X3 2021: ENGINES FOR EVERYONE
Willing as always to compete in a big way with the Audi Q5, Mercedes GLC, Jaguar F-Pace or Volvo XC60, the new BMW X3 2021 could maintain a good part of its current diesel and gasoline offer, with engines that will start from 150 CV of power and who knows if they will culminate, as before, with the M40d in diesel with 326 hp, and in gasoline with the X3 M Competition with up to 510 hp.
The new BMW X3 2021 will maintain at the same time the latest developments already shown, such as the new xDrive30e plug-in hybrid of 292 CV and electric autonomy for 46 kilometers or a second version 20e planned for this second half of the year: it will have lower power and minimum emissions of CO2.
Also, the micro-hybridization currently reaches the BMW X3, with a version 20d 190 hp, completed by a 48V system. The renewal of the SUV is scheduled to be presented throughout 2021, to reach the market either at the end of next year or at the beginning of 2022.
