The presentation just a few days ago of the most performance version of the Audi SQ5 may surprise some people since the brand with the four rings has chosen to introduce a turbodiesel block in the SQ5’s engine compartment, instead of a gasoline mechanic as in most of its sports court products. Now, it is the turn of the slimmer body of the German SUV and the result is a vehicle that exudes elegance and sportiness alike.
We refer to the Audi SQ5 Sportback, an SUV with a coupe-style body that does not present great differences on an aesthetic level with its brother SQ5 beyond the differences that are inherent in the design of its rear and the dropped roofline. This version stands out for a front bumper with large air intakes and vertical inserts, the octagonal Singleframe grille with a honeycomb structure, headlights with Matrix LED technology, and rear in which the bumper features a matt aluminum insert, a diffuser, and four chrome tailpipes.
About the interior, the SUV coupe features a black or dark gray interior, with three upholstery variants for the electrically adjustable sports seats, including the engraved S logo. Both the latter and the steering wheel include contrasting stitching, while the dashboard has decorative trim in brushed aluminum and the door sills feature illuminated inserts in this same material that include the S logo. The instrument panel is digital 12, 3 inches, and the MIB 3 infotainment system is supported by a 10.1 ”touch screen.
The Audi SQ5 Sportback TDI accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.1 seconds and its top speed is limited to 250 km / h.
Under the hood, the main protagonist is a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine that develops 341 horsepower and a maximum torque of 700 Nm, available between 1,750 and 3,250 laps. This TDI thruster is assisted by a 48-volt light hybridization system that reduces fuel consumption and improves block response. All power is transmitted to all four wheels via an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox and Quattro traction system, optionally assisted by a sport rear axle differential, which actively controls torque distribution. between the two rear wheels.
Audi SQ5 Improved dynamics
Concerning the chassis, the brand with the four rings has opted for a multi-link suspension on both axles to have greater control of body movements and not detract from the comfort in motion. The S Sport suspension with damping control features a 30mm lowered body height compared to the Q5 Sportback, while the front brakes feature 375mm diameter discs and six-piston aluminum calipers. The standard wheels are 20 inches and are mounted on 255/45 tires, although you can optionally opt for other 21 ”.
Like the Q5 Sportback, the SQ5 Sportback TDI is manufactured at the San José Chiapa factory in Mexico and will be launched globally during the first half of 2021. Prices have yet to be revealed.
