Just a few days ago, Hyundai finally revealed one of its most anticipated models. A Hyundai i20 N that brought to the street everything is learned in the WRC with the model with which Dani Sordo recently won the Rally of Cerceña. Now, halfway between the WRC car and the road car comes a new member of the family known as the Hyundai i20 N Rally2 for customer-racing within the world of rallying.
This model intended for private drivers and teams are the successor to the Hyundai i20 R5 with which the brand debuted in the world of customer-racing and is based on the newly released i20 N road, with which it shares its new design but now more muscular with wider wheel arches, a sportier hood, a rear spoiler, an air intake on the roof and a sporty livery with the big N shown on this demo model.
Hyundai i20 N Engine
Compared to the 2015 i20 R5, this new i20 N Rally 2 only retains its five-speed sequential gearbox. Everything else is completely new including its 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that for this version has been fine-tuned based on all the experience of the R5 and whose power will also be around 200 hp. This, as well as the work in other corners of the car such as its new chassis, which incorporates new suspension components and shock absorbers, allows improving both the performance and the handling of the car, which allows it to be effective on different surfaces.
Premiere in summer 2021
With this model, Hyundai wants to repeat the success achieved with its previous model, which achieved national titles in Spain, Portugal, and Poland in the Rally 2 category, which serves as the basis for a good number of regional, national and international championships.
The first units of the Hyundai i20 N Rally2 are expected to reach customers from summer 2021 after final homologation. Until then, this model will undergo an extensive testing program that will begin this month to prepare for its debut in the competition on the right foot.
