From today it is possible to reserve the new Skoda Enyaq iV from the dealer in all of Spain, as confirmed by the brand itself. The first units of this SUV will arrive in the hands of customers in spring 2021.
The first Skoda model to be based on Volkswagen’s MEB modular electric drive platform combines the typical brand strengths with fun and sustainable driving. At the moment two power variants and a ” generous launch package ” as announced by the manufacturer will be on sale.
This electric SUV seems to have penetrated deep into the tastes of the consumer who, so far, has shown a very positive opinion of this vehicle. It is possible that its first cousin, the Volkswagen ID.4 may suffer a certain transfer of customers to an aesthetic and interior much more in line with its category.
Seen from the outside the SUV is compact but that does not imply that its interior is small. On the contrary, the cabin is spacious and functional thanks to the use of a dedicated platform designed exclusively for electric cars.
Batteries and power
The Enyaq IV is equipped with an electric motor and batteries that guarantee 100% electric driving. Version 60, with 132 kW (180 hp) has a battery with a net capacity of 58 kWh, which allows it to achieve an electric range of up to 390 km in the WLTP cycle.
The top 80 version, 150 kW (204 hp) and equipped with a 77 kWh battery, offers an even more impressive range of 510 km (WLTP).
The new Skoda electric SUV is offered to the Spanish consumer in two basic equipment configurations depending on the battery capacity. The version of the Enyaq iV with 58 kW battery, has standard equipment that includes a rear parking sensor, Kessy Go keyless entry system, seats with lumbar adjustment and height adjustment, dual-zone climate control, light and rain sensor, radio digital with a 13-inch screen, 19-inch wheels, a 50 kW DC fast-charging system, the latter very fair for a car that will hit the market in 2021.
For its part, the higher version equips a 77 kW battery, also incorporates the driving mode selector, rear view camera, multifunction leather steering wheel with Tiptronic, heated and paddles, and front parking sensor.
In addition to the basic equipment of the Skoda ENYAQ iV, the brand offers numerous customization options, following the group’s policy of having basic equipment and structuring the options with a web of alternatives that, at times, generate more confusion and make it difficult to find the desired configuration. for each client.
The range of options includes ten equipment packages that the company calls ” thematic ” which include: driving, family, infotainment, LED, etc. As if this were not enough, more than 15 driving assistants are included, as well as between five designs for the interior of the vehicle.
This very German policy collides with the speed and efficiency of the Lucid, Rivian, or Tesla configurations, where the options are reduced to a minimum since the base equipment is much richer, reducing the customer’s decision time while avoiding getting lost in a sea of options and ‘packages’ that can end up creating more confusion than help.
As an example of this, we find the interior configuration of the electric SUV where there is an entry-level LOFT, but where we can customize the interior with the SUITE and ECOSUITE range, with leather upholstery and leather dashboard, or the LODGE and LOUNGE designs offer different padded finishes and fabric, microfiber and leather upholstery.
