This Lexus IS 2021 is the fourth generation of the average sedan of the Japanese luxury brand. It comes to replace the model that was launched in 2013 (it received a restyling in 2017). Let’s see what new features it introduces.
You could say that the exterior design of the Lexus IS has always been very aggressive, but this 2021 IS goes a step further. It is slightly wider, with more muscular wheel arches that accommodate 19-inch wheels.
At the front, it presents a newly designed grille, covered with a three-dimensional polyhedral structure and the F SPORT models have an air inlet in the lower part of the grille, which allows better cooling of the brakes, a design inspired by the F version of the Lexus RC.
They completely change the headlights, which are now narrower and have L-shaped LED daylights. According to Lexus, they are an important part of the design, because they are introduced both in the grille and on the sides and the lines that arise from them They extend from the side to the rear of the vehicle.
Precisely, the side is marked by muscular shoulders, which are drawn on the rear wheel arches and which continue towards the rear, where the bright line that joins both drivers is striking, as well as the radical design of the rear bumper.
The ultimate goal is that the design changes reveal how it has dynamically improved, something that we will see later.

Lexus IS F SPORT 2021
Special mention should be made of the Lexus IS F SPORT, whose arrival in Spain is not confirmed.
It will be offered alongside the IS 350 powered by the 311 hp 3.5-liter V6 engine. Also, F SPORT models can be equipped with the Dynamic Handling Package (DHP), which includes a Torsen-type Limited Slip Differential (LSD), Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), and a selector of driving modes: Normal, Eco and Power. ; and the Normal or Sport chassis.
According to the Japanese manufacturer, they had a clear objective with this new Lexus IS 2021: “to raise vehicles to a new standard of performance and drivability; to deliver a new generation of Lexus vehicles that is more balanced, refined in control and safer than ever.”
To this end, they have created the Lexus Driving Signature concept, the objective of which is to continue promoting the dynamism of Lexus, based on the experience accumulated in the brand’s F models. Thus, this new IS will be the first to incorporate this evolution that will then be implemented in each new Lexus model that comes later.
For the tuning of the chassis, they have used the Toyota Shimoyama Technical Center (Japan), an asphalt track inspired by the Nürburgring circuit and which allows improving the dynamic performance of the vehicle.
One of the goals was to optimize the stiffness of the body. For this, details as specific as the reinforcement of the radiator lateral supports, the increase in the number of welding points, and the optimization of the reinforcement structures from the C-pillars to the ceiling have been entered. The increased stiffness not only helps reduce unwanted noise and vibrations but also helps improve driving comfort and improved response.
Also, more linear steering and an optimized braking response have been achieved. The suspension design has also been revised to accommodate the new 19-inch wheels on F SPORT models and the standard 18-inch wheels. And the weight of the same has been reduced by 38% between the springs and the suspension arms, as well as a 17% lighter stabilizer bar, to improve the behavior both at low speeds and when revving up the pace.
