Just a few days ago we knew the definitive appearance of the renewed 3008, but it has not been the only one of the French brands to be updated since the Peugeot 5008 has followed in its footsteps. The company’s larger SUV closely resembles its younger brother and features several shallow cosmetic changes, with an improved interior and a non-changing range of powRenewed image
The modifications begin with a front that seems to be traced to that of the aforementioned 3008 so that it has a new frameless grille, redesigned bumpers with large air intakes at the bottom, as well as renewed headlights with LED technology and a fang-shaped daytime running lights. Also, the GT and GT Pack versions have a different light signature and a cornering lighting function, without forgetting different elements in dark color and 19-inch wheels.
At the rear, there are no major changes, but there is a prominent one and it is none other than a few lamps with LED technology, even for the reversing light, accompanied by a transparent piece of darkened glass that extends across the width of the gate. Customers who purchase the updated 5008 will be able to choose from new exterior shades such as Celebes Blue, Metallic Copper, Pearl White, Artense Gray, Platinum Gray, Perla Nera Black, and Ultimate Red.
If we go inside we discover a cabin that has not changed much, although now it incorporates a series of more advanced technological elements such as, for example, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and an infotainment system that includes a 10-inch touch screen. ”. Likewise, the French SUV benefits from four new upholstery, and in the GT and GT Pack versions there are novel wooden moldings with chrome inserts and a frameless interior mirror.
In the mechanical part, there is nothing new so that a family of three and four-cylinder turbocharged diesel and gasoline engines is still present. This includes 1.2 and 1.6-liter blocks, with 130 and 180 horsepower, while the diesel options are represented with 1.5 and 2.0-liter engines, with the same power as their gasoline alternatives. Like its predecessor, all-wheel drive is not available.
Ready by the end of 2020
Last but not least, it should be noted that at the level of assistants and driving aids the Peugeot 5008 now has a night vision system, adaptive cruise control with Stop and Go function, lane-keeping assistant, Expanded traffic signals, and an automatic emergency braking system with pedestrian and cyclist detection. Pricing has yet to be announced, although we do know that the SUV will hit showrooms before the end of the year.
