Welcome to the first racing version of the 992 generation Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. It has been done for Mobil 1 Supercup e Carrera Cup of Porsche and is 25 hp more powerful than its predecessor, which means it now has about 510 hp at 8,400 rpm and is “one percent” faster on track thanks to optimized aerodynamics and various chassis changes.
O 992 GT3 Cup uses the bodywork of the Turbo to accommodate wider wheels: they now have 12 inches at the front and 13 at the rear. Also, more aluminum has been used in its construction. The 911 GT3 Cup 991 had 30%, but in this new version of the racing car, this figure rises to 70 percent, which does not mean that, at 1,260 kg, it is 35 kilos heavier than the model it replaces.
That overweight is mainly due to a stronger safety cell, as on the GT3 Cup 992 all the windows are made of polycarbonate, and the doors, engine cover, and rear spoiler are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic.
The rear axle “has hardly changed” compared to a 911 streetcar, but the front axle uses technology from the 911 RSR for “more precise turning behavior,” according to Porsche. The shocks also borrow technology from the RSR and the 919 Hybrid (which you know was a Le Mans winner), while the hydraulic steering has given way to an electromechanical one.
Naturally aspirated engine
Quanto ao motor, it has been designed to run on synthetic fuels, which according to Porsche “significantly reduces CO2 emissions in racing conditions.” For the rest, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 992 uses a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer capable of turning at 8,750 rpm … which should sound exciting, to say the least thanks to the new exhaust it mounts.
Well, actually “new exhausts”, since there are three different ones available to be able to accommodate the regulations of the different competitions and circuits.
As for the transmission, the brand claims that the six-speed sequential gearbox offers faster changes and can withstand 120 hours of racing without a major overhaul, which is not bad at all.
There are also variations in the brake calipers, which allow the pads to be changed more quickly, while the fire suppression system is now more efficient (better not to find out first-hand what they refer to) and the dashboard has been reorganized. to facilitate its use in the race.
All Porsche 911 GT3 Cups of the 992 generation come with a special accessory kit, so they are ready to race from the minute they are with their owners.
O deliveries will begin in February 2021, and soon after the 991 GT3 Cup will debut in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and the Porsche Carrera national Cups in Germany, France, Belgium / Netherlands / Luxembourg, Asia, and North America.
Wondering about the preço? If you want a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, you will have to pay 225,000 euros, although then you will have to add your favorite taxes …
