The plug-in hybrid system of the Toyota Prius Plug-in 2021
At the heart of the new Prius Plug-in is a plug-in hybrid system made up of a 1.8-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that runs on the Atkinson cycle with 98 hp. The heat engine is accompanied by two small electric motors, the main one (MG2) with 71 HP and a secondary one (MG1) with 31 HP. The total power of the Prius Plug-in reaches 122 hp.
The electric motors are powered by energy stored in an 8.8 kWh lithium-ion battery. Approves a range in 100% electric mode of 45 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. Therefore, and as we have pointed out at the beginning of the article, the DGT environmental badge 0 Emissions shows with all the advantages that this implies. Electricity consumption is only 9.9 kWh per 100 kilometers, while the average fuel consumption is 1.3-1.5 l / 100 km. Co2 emissions are fixed at 28-35 g / km.
To make the most of the capabilities of this electrified mechanical assembly, it is possible to make use of three specific driving modes: EV, EV City, and HV. The battery can be recharged in less than 4 hours using a conventional household plug. Using a more powerful charging point can reduce the time to just over 2 hours.
