Opel Crossland 2021: New face and lots of space

All the driving reports of Opel Crossland 2021 are in our news. Since its birth, it has been difficult to classify, with proportions and functionalities almost of a compact minivan but wanting to look like an SUV. In any case, it has been liked by customers throughout Europe and has become the second best-selling Opel after the Corsa, and there is no lack of reasons for its success.

It maintains the same measurements as before and the most striking thing is the front, the same that the Mokka renews generation has shown for the first time. The most striking thing is that it is a flat surface, without openings, in glossy black and that joins the headlights creating a side-by-side set, headlights that are full-LED as standard throughout the range and in all finishes.

At the rear, the pilots have also been retouched and in some finishes, they are joined by another black line. All the available wheels have a new design and the GS Line finish is added, with a more sporty air, which is differentiated by the red line that runs along with the upper profile of the windows, in addition to other details in that color inside the cabin.

Inside there are no significant changes, just the addition of new upholstery and the magnificent AGR seats, with medical certification, at least for the driver in all the finishes except the most affordable Edition. These seats have multiple adjustments, including the length of the bench, and adapt to a wide group of physical constitutions. It maintains its extraordinary modularity, with a 15-centimeter sliding rear bench that can be folded into asymmetrical portions, as well as a central hole to transport ski boards or long objects.

The possibility of moving the bench allows the luggage compartment capacity to be varied between 520 and 410 liters, keeping the five seats. The eight-inch screen multimedia system is compatible with Apple Carplay and AndroidAuto and in the center console there are now two USB ports and a wireless charger. You can also now equip a Head-Up Display system but with a small transparent screen.

More technological, more refined

The range of engines does not undergo any changes and the 1.2 three-cylinder with powers of 110 and 130 horses remains, with a manual transmission in the first and the option of automatic transmission in the most powerful. The Diesel is the 1.5 also in two variants, 110 horses with manual transmission and 120 horses with automatic transmission, in all cases with six speeds. What’s new is that the IntelliGrip system is now available as an option.

This system was already mounted on other models of the brand and using a rotary control allows choosing several driving programs, Normal, Mud, Snow, and Sand, in addition to disconnecting the ESP. It is associated with mixed M + S tires and modifies all the electronics (engine response, traction control, and stability) to improve traction in low grip conditions. The hill descent control, which operates between three and 30 kilometers/hour, completes the driving aids for a possible exit off the asphalt.

In the chassis Opel announces that new shock absorbers have been installed, the whole set has been adjusted and more precise steering is mounted. The truth is that the Opel Crossland 2021 now has a little less roll in a corner and the steering is slightly faster but it does not have the agility and sporty feel of the most recent models of this type.

The interior soundproofing has also been improved, with the use of more insulation and thicker glass at the rear, although the main sound source in the passenger compartment continues to be the three-cylinder engine that is noticeable in the interior without being annoying. The driving aid equipment has also been increased with the automatic city braking system with pedestrian detection, blind-spot control, drowsiness warning, and lane change alert.

Prices of the Opel Crossland 2021

The new Crossland arrives in January 2021 with four possible finishes Edition, GS Line, Business Elegance, and Ultimate, and prices that start at 20,650 euros for the less powerful gasoline in Edition finish and reach 27,000 for the automatic Diesel, in both cases no discounts or promotions.
